Weathering
Here is a shot of some of my ScaleTrax with weathering done and some of my ballast from the Niagara River shore.

I like to use my airbrush, chalks, dry brushing and Bragdon's Weathering powders for my weathering projects. I use these on rolling stock, buildings etc.
Below are some samples of freight cars that I have weathered.

For the scratch, I used clear canopy glue by Testors and while wet I sprinkled on some chalk dust. Also by using a brush with some rust colored paint, start in the scratch and drag it towards the bottom of the car creates some nice rust streaks on the car side. The lettering was faded out by using a fine steel wool (000) and sanding the lettering and logo.

The picture below shows how I used a cardboard strip and airbrushed different colors on and created what looks like a board floor on the steel floor of the boxcar.

On the trucks I spray them grimy black with the airbrush and then go back with the chalks or weathering powders and add some rust color to wear areas on the trucks.
