The Southwest Chess Club meets every Thursday night from 6:00 PM at the St. James Catholic Church in the lower level of the Parish Center building (immediately in front of the church). The address is 7219 South 27th Street in Franklin. The club opens at 6 PM, Tournament Games at 7 PM. Here is a map to the club. We are just south of Rawson on 27th, and close to I-94 in Franklin. We have a Blog that shows current club news, and you are invited to contribute information, games, and any items of interest.
Our club sponsors two weekend tournaments each year (April & October). The Hales Corners Challenge XII will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Milwaukee Airport Hotel (near 13th Street & College, Milwaukee). In addition to the usual prizes, GoddessChess will once again be donating additional prize money for female chess players. Join us to play rated tournament games, blitz, or some skittles. There is always a game to be had! Think you are good? There are some players here that might teach you a thing or two! Not that good? We have players of all ratings and experience levels who are always willing to help you improve your game. In the summer, we have a full schedule of lectures right before the games begin. The US Chess Federation provides results of our completed events online. The crosstables contain complete pre- and post- ratings of all participants. Our club maintains a large library of Chess Books, Chess Videos, and Chess DVDS (click on each link for a full list). Club members can check out these titles for 3 weeks at a time. For books, see Andrew Grochowski after you have filled out this form, and he will bring in your book the following week. For DVDs (3-week rental, $3) and Videos (3-week rental, $2), see Robin Grochowski, who will bring it in the following week. Sound like fun?
