| Talking about shoes, how many of you would put your feet into the
x-ray machine all shoes stores had so you could see your toes in the shoe to make sure they fit correctly? There were three viewing ports, one for you, one for mom, and one for the salesman. We would even play with the machine while a brother or sister was getting shoes. All you had to do was push a button on the machine to turn on the
x-rays. In retrospect, HOW FOOLISH! But we didn't know better then.
My how times have changed. I discover that the x-rays shoe machine was developed in Milwaukee, WI and were made in Fon du Lac,WI which is where we would go to buy our shoes. They were outlawed by 1960. |
