After your breakfast you did your daily routine and had to go to the bathroom. 

So you made the run to the outhouse. Now summer time isn't too bad if you can stand the stench. On windy days it isn't as bad as the wind blows through the cracks between the boards that make up the sides. But in winter many times you had to brush the snow off the sitting area and had to be careful you didn't freeze something to the seat. Seat, seat, did someone mention a seat? Not really, just a hole cut into the board that you sat on, and no flushing, everything just dropped into a deep pit that the house sat over. The larger houses had two or three holes of different sizes so it would accommodate the small children as well as adults
