Morgan
was born in New York City (as reported in many places). Her mother and
father were Irish, this allowed Morgan to have dual citizenship. If you
listen closely you might catch the story of where Morgan was really
born. In the United States or in Ireland or on the ship sailing to
America, just another mystery that is part of Morgan.
Morgan loved horses from a very young
age and you certainly get that feeling from reading her book "STAR
DANCER". When she moved to Texas in her teens, she was in the right
place for a horse lover. She developed her skill with horses to such a
degree, that by the age of sixteen she was showing horses at
championship levels throughout the United States. Morgan always has
several things going on at the same time, so it is no surprise that she
was doing modeling for Neiman-Marcus around the age of 18, and
also became a dance instructor for Arthur Murray. A contributory
start in writing must have come from a simple article about training
horses, published in the 70's. She works hard to achieve
what she wants, so she went on to try out for U.S. Olympic
Dressage Team in 1976. By this time she had been a horse trainer and
riding instructor for over least 15 years. Unfortunately (although
very fortunate for her readers) for Morgan, she missed the final cut by
.05 points or basically she was short listed. Her mother
would not let Morgan's disappointments occupy too much of her time.
Morgan's mother realized the need to keep her involved and got
Morgan interested in researching the Llywelyn family
history. Obviously her mother understood what made her daughter tick,
because the rest they say is history.

Her mother's insistence at researching the Llywelyn
line lead Morgan to find the royal connection that she has with the
Welsh and as she says:
"... I have a strong strain of Welsh on my
mother's side, which does indeed go back to Llywelyn ap Iorwerth. And
Llywelyn the Great! (We have the proven genealogy from the College of
Heralds.) She was very proud of her
royal Welsh connection. That is why she was so interested in genealogy
in the first place, and inspired me to get involved as well ...
leading in turn to THE WIND FROM HASTINGS. But both my parents were
predominantly Irish - my father totally so - and I spent half the years
of my childhood here. So I have always been much more interested in
Ireland and its history and legends."
The blend of Morgan's work is unique. She is not
one to be cubby holed into any specific genre because she writes in so
many different ones. Try reading all of her works and you will
find the magic that is Morgan. The number of novels she has
produced in such a short time frame is incredible, 26 in 20 years, and
it keeps growing. Morgan has also written many short stories, they are
typically published in collections with other short stories. One of her
latest works "THE WORLD IS MADE OF STARDUST" is HER stand
alone collection of favorite short stories.
Be sure to check out the numerous AWARDS
that Morgan has earned.
Morgan Llywelyn is a person that will be recorded
in history as someone who wrote history as it was meant to be
written.
