Day 86
Ensign Cowell shelter, MD
1033.3 miles
Took a break this morning at the Washington Monument (not the one in DC, this one was built in 1827 by the citizens of Boonsboro). The mists eventually cleared out enough for a nice view.
The weather today was sort of a repeat of yesterday. Rumbles of afternoon thunder made me decide to stay at this shelter rather than push on to the next. However it hasn't actually started to rain yet. There are 11 people here tonight so it's pretty crowded. I'm not sure how many of them will be headed North with me tomorrow morning, but I doubt all the shelters will be this big.
Tomorrow I'll cross the Mason-Dixon line into Pennsylvania. I don't know if
that will make me feel like I'm in the "North" yet. I may not feel like I've
entered my home turf until I hit Vermont.
