Prayer Intentions

-For an increase in vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life

-For an end to abortion and respect for all life from conception to natural death

-For our military personnel and their families

                On December 7, 2010 at 6pm in the upper room at the St. Joseph Activities Center, Tiffin Serra Club met with prayer.  A meal followed.

                Lynn Mileski opened the meeting, and two guests also were present.  Father Joe Szybka announced that Father Bob Denninger has cancer, and there are also two new aspirates to the religious life.  Father also spoke about the new program “Awake your Catholic Faith”. 

                Lynn read a letter from Father Urry Kazarch whom is from Bellevue Sorrowful Mother Shrine.  This letter thanked the Serrans for their help and efforts that has helped the Shrine.  Lynn then recited a prayer.

                Mary and John Eichhorn were not able to come to the meeting because their daughter is ill.  JoAnn Kirian read the treasurers report.  There is also a note to keep Jim Goetz in your prayers.

                Lynn introduced the speaker of the evening, Jenny Zoeller.  Jenny spoke about a book and CD by Matthew Kelly entitled “Rediscovering Catholicism”.  The meeting then ended in a prayer.

 

***THERE IS A CORRECTION FROM THE LAST NEWSLETTER. Holy Hour and Christmas party will be January 9, 2011 INSTEAD of December 27, 2010.  Holy hour will be at 4:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Church.  Christmas party will be at 5:00 pm in the upper room.

*** There will be no holy hour on December 27, 2010.  There will also be no Serra meeting on January 4, 2011. 

 

                The Serra Club also met on December 21, 2010 with a prayer, a meal then followed.

Joanne Brickner opened the meeting.  Dave Mileski introduced Father Charles Singler, Vocations Director, as speaker of the evening.  He spoke about his new position, and praised Tiffin Serra for our prayers and good works.

                Father Joe Szybka spoke and gave updates for the Christmas schedule.  Father Joe wishes the members of the Serra Club a Merry Christmas.  It is also noted that fellow Serran Jim Goetz passed away recently.

Seminarian Jeffrey Smith attended this Serra meeting and briefly spoke about how things are going for him at the Pontifical College Josephenium, where he is a senior at the college.  Mary Eichhorn also stated that her daughter is doing better.

Vocation week is January 9th to 16th – Pancake and Sausage breakfast is at St. Joseph’s parish on January 9th from 8:00 am to 11:30 am.  The Pancake and Sausage breakfast at St. Mary’s Parish will be January 16th from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. 

Father Singler gave the Serrans a blessing to end the meeting.
