Holiday Greetings from the TXC Information Centre

Around noon on December 25, 2000, the moon god is predicted to eat the sun god.

In an effort to placate the moon god and all other ancient spirits of the forests, mountains, plains, oceans & seas, winds, skies, tundra (and the gods of vulcanism), here is the year-end roundup >>>

Visited London for a week in March with high-school compatriot Steve Snyder.

Replaced obsolete PowerBook 1400cs/117 with a 2000 G3 PowerBook in April.  Rented a number of DVD movies to view on this device.

Received commission from the Horse Trade Theater Group (Kraine, Red Room, St. Marks Theaters) to write, direct, and perform a new 2-character play, Can't Get Started.  Featuring Basey Newborg.  My thanks to Basey and crew members Seth Madej, Henry Bial, and Evan Dashevsky.  [See main page for links to pictures and other information.]

Continued obessively listening to the music of King Crimson/Robert Fripp/Bill Bruford, culminating with the creation of Can't Get Started which included numerous references to the life of a Crim-head, as well as attendance at two King Crimson concerts (NYC Supper Club) and four Robert Fripp Soundscapes performances (WFC Winter Garden), November.

Taught self how to use Adaptec Direct CD software to create data and audio format CD's.

Bought a cell phone.

Performed solo at: Tuesdays at Nine (invited play reading series), Rumble in the Red Room at Pulse Ensemble Theater, First Tuesdays at the Cornelia St. Cafe, WBAI-FM [see this page for picture], Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Dixon Place, & Surf Reality.

Attended concerts by: Baron/Ribot/Medeski (Knitting Factory), The California Guitar Trio (Bottom Line), Jane Ira Bloom (MoMA), The Last of the International Playboys (No Moore), Tony Levin (Knitting Factory), Wire (Irving Plaza), Jonathan Richman (Summerstage), Lloyd Cole (Mercury Lounge), Robyn Hitchcock (Bottom Line), Pere Ubu (Knitting Factory), The Bang on a Can Marathon (BAM).

Worked briefly at Space.com (remained at HarperCollins for beginning 10 months of the year).

Returned to the Los Angeles metro area for the first time since departing for NYC six years ago in August 1994.  Occasioned by the move of my parents to Monterey Park.  [See this page for pictures.]

On the other side of the ledger >>>
Failed to obtain: inner peace, total relaxation, an end to clutter forever, success (personal or professional), media saturation, respect of peers, a promotional copy of T. Coraghessan Boyle's novel A Friend of the Earth (Viking), a CD copy of the King Crimson Live in Mexico City concert, and stability (you know, the thing that women want).
