Modern Humorist LIVE!
Thursday, January 31, 2002 - The Knitting Factory, Manhattan, NY
I was invited to provide the voice of Dr. Profanity in
"A Villianous Interruption" sketch, written by ModHum editors John Aboud
and Michael Colton. Wilson Hall portrayed Vic Vulgar. The illustrations
below by Pat Broderick were some of the visuals projected onto the screen.
The two shows sold out the Main Space at The Knitting Factory. It
was my first appearance at the Knitting Factory in many years, and my first
appearance in the Main Space (even though I was standing in the balcony
speaking into a microphone).
The two villians interrupted "Interview with a Genetically-Engineered
Salmon" by shining laser pointing devices on the performers onstage. They
then discussed their great love of profanity and obscenities.
Dr. Profanity: ...I crave swear words the way a heroin addict craves
hipster credibility!
Vic Vulgar: Bring back the dancing Wonder Woman!
Dr. P: All in good time, my loyal lackey!
Dr. P. and Vic later fired the Blashpheme-o-tron 2000 ray
gun at the next performer at the show, a spokesperson for a charitable organization
(Colleen Werthmann). She then launchd into a obscenity-laden speech
requesting funds for the National Kids with Fucking Cancer Fund.
[After realizing their mistake, Dr. P and Vic V are overcome with
remorse.]
Vic V: Dude, that was not cool.
Dr. P: That was the opposite of cool. My evil nephew
has fucking cancer!
