MARCH MEETING recap -
Our
meeting was one of music and discussion. Roger and Bill led us in a series
of songs in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day. For those of you who would
like to relive the moment, you can see a portion of the presentation on YouTube.

remember to return to read the remainder of the newsletter.
Roger has also composed and performed a Union Carbide "Fight Song" in the spirit of our days in college. The première of this composition is captured on YouTube and can be seen by clicking here. Roger will help us sing with more spirit (and talent??) in future meetings.
The discussion portion of our meeting allowed various members to recall some memorable moments in their career. Some examples of these moments include the initial discovery of Sevin's effectiveness in lab trials by Andy Borash. John Durfee remembered the effectiveness of Sevin in combating spruce budworm and gypsy moth. Continuing with the Sevin theme, Ashby Spratley remembered the development of gas chromatography and it's contribution to verifying the superiority of alpha-naphthol purified by extractive distillation. Kai Young recalled the teamwork of various UCC divisions in making UNOX wastewater treatment system a success. Each of us have our own moment to remember from our Carbide career.
