The Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage near Kezalle, Sri Lanka, is home to the world’s largest collection of captive elephants. They range in age from newborns to elderly adults. Many were rescued from the wild after being orphaned or injured. Adults earn their keep by helping with various chores, and infants are born on an average of one per year. The newborns are arguably the cutest elephants one will ever see. In this photos some of the elephants are enjoying a refreshing bath in the Ma Oya River . |
