Quetzaltenango is the second largest city in Guatemala, located near several volcanoes in the heart of indigenous Mayan culture, with a population of 250,000. At an altitude of 8,000 feet, Quetzaltenango has a pleasant climate with warm days and cool nights. Within a few kilometers of the city there are several Mayan towns which are renown for their busy markets and colorful traditional clothing and woven goods. (Note: Handprint on wall.)
