Hello. For those who don't know me, my name is Virgil LaFerney (alias Bueller) and I currently am honored to be an Officer in the official "Hard Rock Cafe Pin Collector's Club". I have been collecting Hard Rock Pins since 1988, some 2 years after I first crossed the doorstep to the Dallas Hard Rock Cafe. Since that day, I have visited over 60 HRC's around the world and have been to the Dallas HRC over 3900 times.

A few special HRC moments for me include:
Being honored as "Pin Collector of the Year" in 1995.
In 1998 I was presented my own "Brass Star", which is embeded into the food counter to commemorate my 2500th meal. In January, 2001, I was presented with a new "Brass Star" which commemorated my 3000th visit to the Dallas HRC.

I have coordinated numerous Hard Rock Cafe pin collector's events over the years, most notably the 1st - 10th Annual "Texas Pin Shootout" held here in Texas. I am also heavily involved in all pin collector events sponsored by the Hard Rock Cafe in cafes all around the world. I am also an Administrator for the Hard Rock Cafe Pin Collector's Club forum located on the www.hardrock.com website

On a professional note, I worked for AT&T for over 30 years and retired from there in 2001. Since then I have worked for AT&T Wireless which was purchased by Cingular Wireless in 2005. With over 30 years in IT, my ambitions have been primarily focused in the area of computers, networks, and the UNIX operating system running on various hardware platforms. My long career in IT in communications has provided me the opportunity to work with leading edge technology. I currently work in a start-of-the-art datacenter in north Dallas that's longer than 2 football fields in length filled with some of the most high-tech computer/network equipment there is anywhere. I provide Tier III UNIX support for some high visibility systems for Cingular Wireless in several datacenters across the country.

I have lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area all of my life (Yes, I'm a NATIVE Texan). I have been married to my wife Linda for over 30 years and have a 25-year-old daughter, Amanda who is in her senior year of college at North Texas State University in Denton.

Hard Rock Cafe Pin Collectors' Club

dot PERSONAL INTERESTS OR HOBBIES I'm an avid Hard Rock Café fanatic. I am the current and founding officer in the worldwide Hard Rock Cafe Pin Collectors' Club. Over the last 21 years I have visited over 60 Hard Rock Cafe’s, hotels and casinos around the world. I am also a Hard Rock Café lapel pin collector which can be found on www.hardrock.com website. I presently have over 4,000 different pins in my growing pin collection. See my home page and the section labeled "My Home Away from Home" for detailed info about all of my Hard Rock experiences.
AT&T ACCOMPLISHMENT MOST PROUD OF Several come to mind. My UNIX background during the early days where I taught myself the internals of a great Operating System. The creation of the 3 computer centers for AT&T in Dallas and what all was accomplished to see them through completion. I'm proud to say I was asked to be on several of David Korn's beta test teams for some of the last revisions of his famous KORN (ksh) shell.. Back in 1984 I attended a UNIX internals class in Piscataway NJ that was taught by Ken Thompson, original creator of UNIX.
PERSONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT MOST PROUD OF Has to be 33+ great years of marriage, watching my daughter grow into a little lady, and miraculously staying with AT&T for almost 30 years and in IT for 33 years. I think it was the 33 years in IT that has put so much gray hair on my head. Either way, it's been a great ride.
WORDS OF WISDOM The founder of the Hard Rock Café based his business and life around the slogan,

"Love All, Serve All"

As corny as some slogans tend to sound, I suppose if we would all treat the next person as our equal, and attempt to help anyone in need, many of this worlds problems would completely and forever disappear.
