reunion September 2nd
through 5th at the Reno Hilton, Reno Nevada. This will The SSBN 634 Association is
planning a Stonewall Jackson (SSBN634) be in conjunction with the United States
Submarine Veterans Inc (USSVI) convention.
Our reunion dinner will be Thursday night, September 4th. We have a hospitality room reserved
beginning Tuesday the 2nd around 5PM till Friday 5PM. There will be more information regarding
events, etc., as we get closer to the date.
Please make an effort to attend the 2003
Reunion. We had a great time at the
2002 reunion, and would like to strike while the iron is hot and get a big
turnout for 2003. This will be a chance
to reconnect with old shipmates, and also meet other fine StonyJ folks. Make your reservations early at the Reno
Hilton,
800-501-2651. There is a block of rooms reserved for the
convention, and you will get a discount by mentioning that you are attending
the United States Submarine Veterans convention.
At the 2002 reunion we held a
short business meeting. The purpose of
the meeting was to set up an association who would be responsible for reunions,
keeping members informed, and maintaining a Ships Store with hats, shirts,
etc. It was voted that the annual dues
would be $10.00. This money would be
used as seed money towards reunions, mail-outs, and for a small inventory of
ships store items. Although $10.00
was voted for dues, I am requesting that for the first year, we each send in an
extra $10.00 as an initial startup for our treasury. It appears that Reno will be more
expensive than the Duluth reunion.
While not extravagant, we would like to have a first class affair, and
also retain a balance that would be adequate for operational costs.

access a printable copy of the association membership form.
Please fill it out and mail it in.
The instructions and mailing address are included on the form.
Also, regarding costs, we
have approximately 300 names with addresses in our database. This newsletter will be the only one mailed
to all addresses. In the future we plan
to keep folks up to date via e-mail. Of
course, we will send these newsletters by traditional mail to members who do
not have access to e-mail.
The following are the elected
(coerced may be a better description) association officers.
NOTE: The email address
for each officer uses " AT " in place of @ to reduce email spam. If
you wish to send email to any of the association officers please replace the " AT " in his email
address with @ otherwise your email won't reach him.

The 2002 Reunion was
held at Duluth Minnesota September 17th through the 20th
with the dinner held on Friday night the 20th. I want to especially thank Pete Peterman,
Charlie York, and Don Ennis for their work in setting up this reunion. We had 24 crewmembers sign the guest book
or the banner. This group included
plankowners, continuing till 1989.
Several of those attending met old shipmates they hadnt seen for years,
and enjoyed their own reunions. As
usual, they found that the gap of time disappeared after about five minutes of
reminiscing.

Ships Store
We currently have a few items
in the Ships Store, and can add more as the demand grows. Since we dont have a surplus in the
treasury, we do not plan to have a very large store inventory however, we will
keep some hats in stock. Orders will be
filled at the pace of the vendor. In
some cases, he has to wait until there are several orders to keep prices down
for us. (It doesnt have to be StonyJ
orders. For example, when he gets
enough golf shirt orders from several sources, he will fill ours) You should
find a sheet of Ships Store items and a price list in this mailing. They are also on the official Stonewall
Jackson web site, ssbn634.com.
We are trying to make a little money on this, however the prices to you
are in line with what you will find in the market for these types of items.
