CWGetToWinwarbler

CWGetToWinwarbler provides a bridge between CWGet and WinWarbler, the digital interface component of AA6YQ's DXLab suite of programs. Characters decoded by CWGet are sent to WinWarbler's receive panel.
I wrote CWGetToWinwarbler in Visual Basic 5.0. It communicates with CWGet via DXSOFTEX.DLL and with WinWarbler via WinWarbler's DDE interface.
I developed the program using version 6.7.4 of WinWarbler and version 2.0 of CWGet running under Windows XP. I have also tested it on a Vista computer - Vista Home Premium. Testing on a Windows 7 computer produced mixed results. It didn't work at first but started working a few days latter for reasons I cannot explain.
CWGetToWinwarbler only makes one change to your computer. It stores a .ini file in the same folder CWGetToWinwarbler is running from.
Here are some important points to observe when getting the program to run:
1) You will need the Visual Basic 5.0 runtime environment on your computer. That's available at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/180071.
2) It does not work with some earlier versions of WinWarbler. I suggest you update to at least version 6.7.4
3) WinWarbler must be in the CW operating mode.
4) The "display xmit/rcv characters" check box in the CW tab of WinWarbler's Configuration window must be checked.
5) If WinWarbler is running when you start CWGetToWinwarbler you should see the sentence "Connection Establish between CWGetToWinwarbler and WinWarbler" appear in WinWarbler's receive panel.
6) The CWGet install program also installs DXSOFTEX.DLL on your computer. If for some reason DXSOFTEX.DLL isn't on your computer you will need to install it.
7) DXSOFTEX.DLL uses a parameter call “canal_number”. CWGet uses a default value of 1for the parameter. It is set in the CWGET.INI file. If you have changed this parameter for some reason you must restore it to 1 for CWGetToWinwarbler to work.
Sergi, UA9OV, and Rick, N2AMG both provided great help in developing this program. Larry, W1HJF, tested the program for me. I owe thanks to all three.
