CW Skimmer to DXKeeper

CW Skimmer to DXKeeper (SkimmerToDXKeeper) provides a bridge between CW Skimmer and DXKeeper, the Logging component of AA6YQ's DXLab suite of programs.  When a user clicks on a callsign in CW Skimmer this program sends the call to DXKeeper's callsign filter text box.  This causes DXKeeper to do a callsign lookup for that call.  The call will also go to the DXKeeper Capture Window, DXView, PropView, and Pathfinder. Beginning with Version 2.0 the call will also go to WinWarbler.  Jeff, AC0C, encouraged me to write this program.

SkimmerToDXKeeper communicates with Skimmer via Skimmer's Telnet server and with both DXKeeper and WinWarbler via their DDE interface. I developed this version of SkimmerToDXKeeper using version 9.2.2 of DXKeeper, version 6.9.7 of WinWarbler and version 1.6 of CW Skimmer running under Windows XP.

SkimmerToDXKeeper has one window with three frames.  You enter Skimmer's Telnet parameters in the top frame. These should be compatible with what is shown in the Telnet Tab of Skimmer's Settings Window. Don't forget to enable Skimmer's telnet server.  SkimmerToDXKeeper, DXKeeper, and WinWarbler must all be on the same computer.  Skimmer can be running on the same or a different computer.

You use the other two frames to tell SkimmerToDXKeeper what you want to do.  The bottom left frame allows you to specify what this program should do with callsigns it receives from Skimmer.  It will do nothing if the "Nowhere" option is selected.  The "DXK" option causes the program to send the callsigns to DXKeeper.  The "DXK+WW" sends the callsigns to DXKeeper and WinWarbler and if Commander is running and controlling a radio the radio will QSY to the stations frequency.

Skimmer sends a telnet spot out each time the user clicks on a callsign on the Bandmap or double clicks on a call in the Callsigns List.  SkimmerToDXKeeper has logic built in to require a double click on the Bandmap to send a call to DXKeeper.  This was done to prevent random clicks from sending data to DXKeeper but has the unfortunate effect of requiring four clicks on a callsign to in the Callsigns List to send a call to DXKeeper.  The bottom right frame in SkimmerToDXKeeper's window allows you to defeat this logic.

The Auto Connect to Skimmer check box serves two functions.  If it is checked, SkimmerToDXKeeper will connect to Skimmer automatically on startup and will try to reconnect to Skimmer if it detects the telnet connection has been broken for some reason.  Neither of these things will happen if the box is not checked.  Then you must push the button to attempt a connection.

If you receive a message that MSVBVM50.DLL is not found, go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/180071

SkimmerToDXKeeper only makes one change to your computer.  It stores an .ini file in the same folder SkimmerToDXKeeper is running from.
