Nature Coast Unitarian Universalists

We moved into our new building and had Our first service on Sunday, June 1, 2008.

The new building is wonderful! The acoustics in the main hall are excellent. The kitchen is a joy to work in.

On September 25, 2006 our building plans suffered a serious setback when the Citrus County zoning commission turned down our request for a variance to build a church on residential property. This was completely unexpected as we had been assured by our contractor as well as some county people that it was going to be only a formality  to be approved. On top of that, we found we could not obtain bank financing

Since that time, much has happened. We found a piece of commercially zoned land in Citrus Springs, on route US41, just West of the junction with route 491. This is an excellent property and is well situated.

Some of our members decided to form a Limited Liability Company (LLC) where in members and friends could invest for a return of 6%.On August 19, 2007, the congregation voted to buy the property, accept the LLC as mortgagee, and to proceed with building.

The LLC was fully subscribed.

After much red tape, the building permit was obtained on February 10, 2008.

Ground was broken and the building process went on at great speed.

At last a new home!
