Family:
I'm very happily married to Muriel
Chess. We were wed on New Year's Eve, 2005 at Nature Coast Unitarian
Universalists.
Muriel and I have done a lot of fun traveling since we
were married. Three Carribean Cruises, Portland Oregan for the UU General
Assembly in 2007, numerous trips to New York (my old home stamping grounds to
see kids and friends), numerous trips to Michigan to see Muriel's kids and
friends, Days spent lolling on the beach and pool at the Thunderbird Lodge and
Resort on Treasure Island (Florida).
When we were married we sold our
houses and bought "Our House", just three minutes away. I think of it as "My
Blue Heaven".
We also had a five week, 5000 mile driving vacation
in May 2006. Mamouth Cave, Indiana, Michigan, Canada over Lake Erie, Niagara
Falls, Corning NY, Rockland County NY, Cape May Ferry, Delmarva Penensula, Kitty
Hawk, Cape Hattaras, and home to Florida. The dog, Ginger, went with
us.
My son, David
Michael Chess maintains a nice family site with
lots of good references.
My late wife was Susan Gael Leland Chess (1933-1996). She, David and his kids are direct descendants of the Detroit car manufacturing duo Henry and Wilfred Leland, founders of Cadillac and Lincoln.
Susan's mother, Jeanne Dunn Procter lives here near
Beverly Hills, in an skilled nursing facility. She is 96 and still going
strong. Jeanne is the reason I found the wonderful Nature Coast and Central
Ridge area of Florida.
Education:
I graduated from the University of Denver with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1951.
Employment:
Went to work in 1953 for Victor Chemical works which merged into Stauffer Chemical Company in 1959. Retired early after almost 30 years service in 1983 and went into the self employed computer consulting business programming graphics and business applications. I'm largely retired now although I do an occasional consulting thing.
It's very hard to buckle down to anything computer-wise when you have all of paradise to explore.
