THOMAS EVANS, JR. (son of THOMAS EVANS) was born 1786 in Wilkes County, GA, and died 10 Apr 1861 in Athens, Clarke County, GA. He married CLARISSA W. ALLEN 26 Dec 1816 in Madison County, GA, daughter of GEORGE ALLEN and FRANCES BULLOCK. She was born 1800 in Wilkes County, GA, and died 27 Aug 1888 in Clarke County, GA.

War of 1812 pension: Widow's Original No. 10906; Widow's Claim No. 6667.
Thomas EVANS served in the War of 1812, as a private from October 25, 1813 to March 2, 1814 in Captain William Park's Company. From November 21, 1814 to May 6, 1815 in Captain Kendrick's Company, Georgia Militia. Also served for a time with Captain William Varner's Volunteer Troops Light Dragoons, Freeman's Squadron Cavalry, Georgia Militia. Was discharged at Fort Hawkins, which was located in what is now East Macon, Georgia, across the river from Macon, Georgia.
Thomas received for his service Bounty Land: No. 13486 allowed 160 acres and 50 acres.

Clarissa ALLEN Evans was allowed a pension for her husband's service in the War of 1812. Widow's Claim No 6667. Her application was executed May 20, 1874. Her age at the time this was granted was 74 years and she was then a resident of Athens, Georgia. She died August 27, 1888. Included in Clarissa's application is an affidavit by Henry Allen and Elizabeth Allen that they were in attendance at the marriage of Clarissa Allen and Thomas Evans.
