William Andrew BROWN, the son of Andrew BROWN and Margarette ADAMS, was born 04 May 1795 in Elbert County GA, and died 14 Aug 1866 in Hart County GA. He married Joannah HARBIN, daughter of William HARBIN and Sarah GILLEMS. She was born 23 Nov 1796 in Elbert County GA and died 03 Aug 1867 in Hart County, GA. They are buried at Old Hendry's Baptist Church, Hart County GA. William A BROWN was an officer in the Georgia Militia in 1864. William A BROWN is listed in the Elbert County GA Census 1820 - 1850 and in the Hart County GA Census in 1860.

In the name of God Amen
I William A Brown of the said State and County being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart this life deem it right and proper both as respects my family and myself that I should make a disposition of the property with which a kind Providence has blessed me do therefore make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me.

1st Item – I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances in life. My soul I trust shall return to rest with God who gave it as I hope for eternal salvation through the merits and atonement of the blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whose religion I have professed and as I humbly trust enjoyed for thirty years.

2nd Item – I desire and direct that all my just debts be paid without delay by my executrix hereinafter appointed.

3rd Item – I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Joannah Brown all of my estate both real and personal that may be possessed of at the time of my death (after the payment of my debts as before stated) for her to enjoy and to use in her own way giving her full power to trade and traffic in any way that she may see proper to the advancement of her place in life.

4th Item – I desire and direct that at the death of my beloved wife Joannah all of my property both real and personal be divided equally between my children in the same way that the law would divide had I died intestate.

5th Item – I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Joannah Brown my executrix of this my last will and testament this October 15, 1860.

Signed Sealed declared and published by William A. Brown as his last will and testament in the presence of us the subscribers who subscribed our names hereto in the presence of said testator (at his special instance and request) and of each other this October 15 th 1860.

Personally came into open Court Hiram Brown and William Bowers who being duly sworn say that they saw William A Brown sign the foregoing will that at the time of signing the same the said William A. published and declared it to be his last will and testament that deponents together with Charles W. Christian whose name is thereto subscribed as a witness signed the same as a witness in the presence and at the request of the said testator at the date thereof that testator at the time of signing the said will was in the opinion of deponents of sound and disposing mind.

William A Brown left his Estate for the use of his wife Joannah and after her death it was to be divided between his children. William A Brown appointed his wife Joannah as Executrix but at her death their son, Edmond G Brown was appointed Administrator of the estate.

1. Edmond G. BROWN was born 27 Apr 1816 in Elbert County GA and died 19 Apr 1890 in Hart County, GA and married Lettie DUNCAN on 24 Mar 1836 in Elbert County GA.

2. Nancy E. BROWN was born abt 1817 Elbert County GA and married John M. HAYNES on 10 Jun 1841 in Elbert County, GA.

3. John M. BROWN was born abt 1820 Elbert County GA married Mary E. MEANS on 12 Dec 1846 in Elbert County GA.

4. Henry T. BROWN was born about 1824 in Elbert County GA. He married Frances R MEANS on 12 Nov 1846 in Elbert County GA. They moved to Calhoun County AL in 1860 but moved back to GA

5. Priscilla Vinetta BROWN, b. 11 Dec 1825, GA; d. 06 Feb 1904, Franklin County, GA; m. William Franklin ATTAWAY, 15 Jan 1846, Elbert County, GA; b. 13 Feb 1821, GA; d. 30 May 1902, Franklin County, GA. See sketch on William Franklin Attaway and Pricilla Vinetta Brown.

6. Hiram D. BROWN was born abt 1827 Elbert County GA.

7. James L. BROWN was born abt 1829 Elbert County GA.

8. Mary Harriet BROWN was born abt 1835 Elbert County GA and married James JENKINS on 28 Oct 1860 in Elbert County, GA.

9. Asa C. BROWN was born abt 1835 Elbert County GA and died in 1864 in Virginia while in CSA. He married Martha BOWERS. After Asa died she married William R. WEAVER.
