JACOB HOSCH was
born c 1754 at Niederasphe, Hessen, Germany, and died Bef. 15 Oct 1819 in Fairfield District, S.C. He married RACHEL JONES in Lexington,
Fairfield District, SC, daughter of WILLIAM JONES and SUSANNAH ____. She was born
1766 in SC, and died Bef. Nov 1861 in Lincoln County, TN.
Jakob[Jacob] Hosch was born in 1753-1754 in Niederasphe, Hessen, Germany. He arrived in America at the end of October 1776 as a Hessian Soldier for the British Army. His unit was Garrison Regiment von Huyn and they were active in New York and New Jersey and later Pennsylvania. By the end of 1779 they were designated as the Garrison Regiment von Benning and February 1780 they were transported to the Carolinas. While at James Island, South Carolina, Jacob Hosch deserted Company 3 in May 1782. Agatha Sanders in the presence of John Gray, Esq. doth bind as an apprentice Susannah Sanders age three till she reach the age of 18 or marriage to Jacob Housch to be taught reading and writing in the best manner he can....Shall be furnished sufficient meat and drink and apparel, boarding and lodging and other things needful. When 18 or marriage to be furnished with 2 decent suits of clothing. Recorded Sept. 1, 1794.

SOUTH CAROLINA
FAIRFIELD DISTRICT
In the name of God Amen -
Know ye that I Jacob Hosch of the State and District aforesaid, Being in
perfect health of mind and body at this time but knowing that it is appointed
once for all men to die therefore as touching such Worldly property as it hath
pleased God to bless me with, I Will and bequeath In the Manner and Form
Following (VIZ 1st) as to my body I recommend my Soul into the Lord who gave it
and my body to be buried in a Decent Christian like manner at the Discretion of
my Executors.
Item 2. I Will and Bequeath unto my beloved Wife
Rachel Hosch my present dwelling House and Plantation with House hold and
Kitchen Furniture in My present possession to be enjoyed during her natural life
and to be at her free will and Disposed during her lifetime and at her
death. Also I give unto my Wife two
Negroes (VIZ) Peter an African man about thirty years of age and Ceil an
African woman about twenty six or seven years of age, likewise my present Stock
of Horses Cattle and Hogs, to be as before directed enjoyed by her during her
natural life and to be at her Free will and disposal at her death, likewise my
Wagon Plantation and Blacksmith tools to be possessed by her during her life
and to be at her Free Will and Disposal during her life and at her death.
Item 3rd. I give and bequeath unto my eldest son
Matthew Hosch One Hundred and two acres of land to be possessed by him his
Heirs & C for ever as per deed of Conveyance likewise a Negro Girl named
Juda about six or seven years of age now in his possession, also a colt called
the Marquis Colt in his possession at time likewise three or four head in his
possession at this time.
Item 4th. I give and Bequeath unto my Youngest son
Jacob Hosch and My youngest Daughter Rachel Hosch to be Joint Heirs in two
Negroes the one a boy . . . . the other a Girl about . . . years if age to be
joint heirs in the two aforementioned Negroes when the youngest child comes of
full age and not to be divided until that time (then them and their increase to
be Divided according to Value Just and Equally between them my two said
children Jacob & Rachel).
And I do hereby nominate my
Wife Rachel Hosch together with Thompson Mayo & Isaac Means my Whole and
Sole Executors to this my Last Will and Testament Hereby Revoking and
Disannulling all other Wills and Legacies by me heretofore made whereby I have
hereunto affixed my hand Seal this fifth of Sept 1818.

I Rachael Housch of the
County of Lincoln & State of Tennessee, do make and publish this my Will
and Testament.
1st I want my Funeral Expenses paid out of what
monies I have on hand and as soon after my Demise as Possible.
2nd. I Give and bequeath to
my Granddaughter Amanda Caroline all my household & kitchen Furniture, &
I also bequeath to my Said Granddaughter Amanda Caroline all money I may have
on hand and also the notes and Bond that I may have on others for money for the
Sole use of my Said Grand Daughter & the Hiers of her body & Should my
said Grand Daughter die without Issue the above named house hold Furniture
money & Bonds to revert to her Brother or their lawful hiers.
3rd. I give & bequeath
unto my two Grand Son, William Jacob & Gohn Wesly Jointly & Severally
the land on which I now reside which they can do with as they deem most
conducive to their Interest on becoming of proper age.
The above named Amanda
Caroline and William Jacob & John Wesley are the Children of my Son John
Jacob Hosch.
4th. I give and bequeath to
my Grand Son John Jacob Patterson five Dollars, to be paid out any money I may
have on hand at my Decease.
5th. I nominate and Appoint
Wm B. Robinson my Exec. to this my last Will & Testament.
I testimony whereof the
Said Rachael Hosch has hereto Set her hand and offered her Seal the 10th day of
April 1859.
