SAMUEL HARRIS (son of NATHANIEL HARRIS & SUZANNAH APPLING) was born in Wilkes County, GA. He married FRANCES HUFF, daughter of CHARLES HUFF and SUSANNAH. She was born 1813 in Wilkes County, GA.

Samuel HARRIS and Frances HUFF married on December 19, 1826 in Walton County, Georgia. This marriage was recorded in Marriage Book “B”, page 23. Samuel HARRIS was listed as head of house in the 1830 Walton County, Georgia Census. He was listed as being of twenty and under thirty years of age. No additional males were living in his home. There were two females listed in the home; one female of fifteen and under twenty and one female under five years of age. Five houses away was the home of Nathaniel HARRIS who was listed as being of forty and under fifty years of age. Living in same house as Nathaniel HARRIS was one female of thirty and under forty and one female of fifteen and under twenty.

Newspaper Article in "Union Recorder"; Thursday, July 5, 1832. Walton County Georgia Sheriff Sale. On first Tuesday in August next, will be sold at the courthouse in the town of Monroe, Walton County, within the usual hours of sale, the following property, to wit: Part of lot No. 15/2 dist. levied on as the property of William Freeman, to satisfy executions or fi fas in favor of Joel P. Samuel HARRIS was listed as head of house in the 1840 Walton County, Georgia Census. He was listed as being of thirty and under forty years of age. Two additional males were living in his house; one male of five and under ten and one under five years of age. Four females lived in the house; one of thirty and under forty, one of twenty and under thirty, one female of ten and under fifteen and one under five years of age. Presley HUFF and family were listed as living next door and six houses away from Samuel HARRIS family lived the William FREEMAN family. William FREEMAN was husband of Lucinda HARRIS daughter of Nathaniel HARRIS. Five houses from William FREEMAN was the family of Charles HUFF, Jr. Living nearby was John S. POOL who married Celia HUFF daughter of Charles (Sr.) and Susannah HUFF.

Samuel Harris from Walton County GA was admitted to Insane Asylum at Midway near Milledgeville on March 25, 1845. (source: The Georgia Black Book, Vol II, page 114)

Samuel Harris, pauper, lunatic from Walton County, age 48, married, blacksmith, cause of insanity, bad health, duration, 3 years, admitted 25 March 1845, April 1 1845 escaped, Aug 6th returned by his friends in about the same condition as when he left, removed by his friends 13 Oct 1847, when last heard from remained in a state of derangement. Returned by order of the Inf court of Walton County, April 21 1849, discharged every greatly improved and went on to recover.
