History
The Pittsford Volunteer Fire Department Band, since its inception in 1946, has been providing music for our beloved Pittsford Volunteer Fire Department. Tedo D'Aurizio, Director Emeritus, led the band from 1971 until 2006. The band has received the prestigious title of "New York State Fire Department Band Champions" seven times.

Mission
The band mission is, by our music and professional conduct, to promote greater recognition and appreciation of the history, traditions and sacrifices of all members of the fire service.

The members of the Pittsford Fire Department Band proudly support the brave tradition of firefighters by performing at area fire fighters' carnivals and parades, as well as concerts and other community events throughout western New York. The fire department musical band exerts much effort to create citizen awareness of the excellent volunteer fire department, and to enhance disaster prevention.

Performances
During our February to October season, the band performs some of the best musical literature for marching bands. Past concert and parade selections have included pops, swing, rhythm & blues, classical, and traditional crowd pleasing Sousa and Fillmore marches. The band yearly averages about 15 performances at outdoor venues across Western New York. In addition, the band performs at community service events several times per year.

Membership
The band has a strong core of professional and semi-professional musicians who volunteer their time. Qualified musicians are always welcome to join. Contact the band manager for openings.

A great deal of time and effort goes into maintaining our organization and providing quality music for our firefighters. The Pittsford Fire Department Band provides music and uniforms for qualifying members. Flip folders containing the season's repertoire are provided at rehearsals each February.
