CLASS WORK/PARTICIPATION SCORING RUBRIC

Note: The values presented in the following rubric are in increments Excellent through Poor. When considering the class work/participation grade, Mr. Nuwesra uses a conversion scale to transfer the scoring rubric grade into points that are added to your test grade. While students may perform satisfactory in some areas, it should be remembered that these grades reflect the overall of student achievement. These values are expressed as a numeric grade which become a factor in determining your final grades. In all cases, you will have a copy of the scoring scale as well as the range of grades associated with it. As usual, any questions you may have should be forwarded to Mr. Nuwesra.

Excellent

  • Do Now response includes a thesis and supporting information
  • Written assignment responses are accomplished accurately and completely
  • Demonstrates an ability to follow directions and to pay attention to classroom tasks
  • Raises hand before speaking and respecting the opinions of others
  • Notebook is neat and up-to-date

Good

  • Do Now response includes a thesis and some supporting information
  • Written assignment responses are accomplished mostly accurately and completely
  • Demonstrates an ability to mostly follow directions and to pay attention to classroom tasks
  • Raises hand before speaking and respects the opinions of others most of the time
  • Notebook is neat and up-to-date most of the time

Needs Improvement

  • Do Now response sometimes includes a thesis and uses supporting information in a limited way
    Written assignment responses are sometimes accomplished accurately and completely
  • Ability to sometimes follow directions and to pay attention to classroom tasks
  • Sometimes raises hand before speaking and respects the opinions of others
  • Notebook is sometimes neat and up-to-date

Poor

  • Do Now response lacks a thesis and/or supporting information
  • Written assignment responses are accomplished inaccurately and incompletely
  • Demonstrates an inability to follow directions and to pay attention to classroom tasks
  • Generally does not raise hand before speaking and shows little respect for the opinions of others
  • Notebook is illegible and/or not up-to-date

Fail

  • Do Now response is incomplete and/or blank
  • Written assignment responses are incomplete and/or blank
