Researching family ancestors can be time consuming. Often times there are many records to search and the records will not have an index or be alphabetized. Sometimes the names you are researching are slightly misspelled or the person’s nickname is used on legal documents.
Birth, marriage and death certificates were not required in most states until around 1915. Before 1915 most local newspapers printed this information. Census records sometimes can be found but they also can have mistakes. The County Courthouse or Register of Deeds has real property records usually index by last name.
