Hatha
YOGA is the world's
oldest structured or organized form of physical fitness. It is mentioned in
the Rig Veda, the oldest book ever discovered, which is dated at about 5000
years ago. The body of knowledge which is Yoga has been passed down from
Master to pupil to the modern day.
Hatha Yoga is a complete system of physical fitness
which not only provides for the toning and care of the body but which
promotes a calm and peaceful attitude of the mind.
YOGA Body and Mind
teaches traditional Hatha Yoga with some Iyengar influence.
Classes are for beginner and intermediate level
students with modifications made to suit the mix of individuals in each
class. More advanced students are welcome in any class.
Each class consists of a number of Asanas designed to
exercise most parts of the body in one session. The varied Asanas or
"postures" are presented in a carefully ordered sequence with
appropriate breath instruction and are followed by a guided relaxation.
Meditation is taught on a separate and
occasional basis.
